When I was a kid, and I bumped into something or otherwise sustained an ouchy, I would – in very rare cases, I assure you – sometimes whine about the pain in an overdramatic fashion.

Anyway, my parents dealt with this by mocking me. They’d treat it like a national emergency. They’d say: “Do you want us to call the Vice President?”

(I think this was also a sophisticated joke about the role of the Veep; the guy has nothing better to do, so he’d probably happily attend to my boo boo.)

Anyway: I was reminded of this when I saw a photo today.

It’s of Obama, the Prez, not the VP, comforting a crying kid who’d fallen over or something at the White House’s Easter picnic.

He told him: “Shake it off.”

Wonder what Biden would have said.
